One of the important teachings and principles of the Baha'i Faith is the Elimination of all Prejudices. God created this land of earth with human beings, animals and plants to live. HE created atmosphere for our use. The people in those days, million years ago, they had prejudices, they had hate among each other and started to break the land of earth into small pieces and placed a boundary, put a name on it and created a nationality/race. Later, prejudice went further, which targeted races and skin colour with intimidation, cruelty and harassment. They did not provide any direction for them to live in peace together. A little bit later, another prejudice came on top of that - that was the prejudice of religion. A group of people from one religion attacked the other side and disaster started in the world. Many people lost their lives and many destructions happened as the result of these prejudices. One example to this, was the World War II, that was the killing of the Jews. Millions of Jews were killed, and this happening shook the world. This created shame and disgrace to the world of humanity. All the messengers of God came with the same message saying to the people that it is the time to live in peace with other people and get the blessings of God and move on your life. This is the message given to all the people. Also the government of each country, and all the leaders of all religion, they have the duty and responsibility to tell the people, that violation does not work, and prejudice and hate do not work. The best solution would be peace and cooperation between all the people. Since then, if we are to investigate, still the barrier of misunderstanding is very high, millions of people do not like each other. This is very tragic. The Baha'i Faith believes that this world of humanity is one race and this land of earth is the place where they could live in peace and love. These boundaries of different countries are man-made and do not have any spiritual foundations and justification. What they should know is that, different countries, does not mean that they should not be cooperative, friendly and peaceful with each other. The two important examples on how this prejudice may be eliminated: One is what happened to South Africa, before the great Nelson Mandella came out of prison, (he was in prison that time), the South Africa was totally apartheid. The black people had no right to vote, there was intimidation, cruelty and harassment all the time. When Nelson Mandella came out from prison with the grace of God, they agreed with the president to go for the election. The black people also participated. Whatever is the result they have to accept each other. It started nicely this way. Democracy then started in South Africa. They accepted the elected president, from there they carried on the movement of Democracy. The black and white are now working together nicely, with cooperation, with loving for the home, for the education, for the health and for the welfare. This could be the way we could eliminate the prejudice. Let us not forget Desmond Tutu who was one of those men who brought the people together, urged them to forgive one another and move on to a new life, be friends for the future. Thanks to him, too. The second example we have is: A great happening to the American voters in 2009. Those courageous American voters, when the time came to elect the next president, they voted an America-African senator, Barack Obama, as their president. For the first time, they have chosen an America-African president for the United States. He was gorgeous and great. This man served them for eight years (two terms), with all his efforts, with all his humanity and integrity. Now he is out and happy. Many people loved him. This is the meaning of equality. So it is possible that prejudice can be eliminated. I will read you a holy writing:
